Born in 1986, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He has started classical piano lessons since age 7, graduated from the National Taiwan Normal University with classical piano bachelor degree. Afterward, He went to Netherland for jazz study at Koninkelijke Conservatorium in Den Haag and Rotterdam Conservatorium with a in the area of Jazz Composition & Piano where he graduated with a honour (9),
S'yo has attained to a unique place among the performers of his generation, with his contemporary large ensemble《S'yo Fang Octet》, the mix of music genres ranging from modern classical music to jazz. He has been performed in many festival included 2014 Delft Jazz Festival、 Graz-Comp-2014、2016 Taichung Jazz Festival、2017 North Sea Round Town、2017 Den Haag International KamerMuziek Festival、2017 So What's Next Jazz Festival Eindhoven、 2017 Keep an Eyes the Records at Bimhuis Amsterdam。
As an composer and arranger, He has nominated as best composer in 2014-Graz-Jazz-Comp. S'yo worked with several ensemble ,orchestra in NL and Taiwan. He was invited to present his large ensemble project “S'yo Fang Octet” in Taichung Jazz Festival 2016, the biggest jazz festival in Taiwan, as the youngest musician to perform at main stage; moreover, he hosted Jazz Composition Seminar & Workshops at The National Qingshui High School for one week in Taichung. In March, 2017, He collaborated with Amsterdam CineAsia Film Festival for 10th anniversary production, and it's also been performed by Codarts Contemporary Big Band in April. S'yo Fang has been selected in Metropole Orkest Arranger Workshop 2017, worked with Metropole Orkest, Vocalist Kandace Springs and Honorary Conductor, Arranger Vence Mendoza.
In 2018, S'yo released his debut album 《Lonely Country》respectively in Taiwan (AsiaMuse) and Europe (Zennez Records, NL). The opening concert was filmed by Netherlands NPO/NTR 2 at opening concert of Tilburg Make it Jazz Festival, this album release tour ends at Jazzy Colors Festival in Paris.
S’yo also plays in Emilio Parrilla Acoustic Band as an Jazz Pianist, and released their debute album ” Tribute to Jimmy Guiffre” in 2016, which has been highly-recommended by world-famous jazz musician Steve Swallow: "This recording offers proof that music lives beyond the musician who makes it.
